LNWR 821 1890s Doncaster L&NWR MPD
The location of this lovely 1890s study of a L&NWR Webb 'Waterloo' class 2-4-0 No. 821 'Diomed' (a hero, with Achilles of the siege of Troy) was a mystery. It was finally identified as the L&NWR shed situated adjacent to the GNR's Doncaster Carr depot. Built in 1881 it closed in 1925 but the building survived until 1965. Who knew? 'Diomed' was built at Crewe in Jan. 1892 and was withdrawn in May 1908.
