A dramatic April 1935 'up close and personal' view of an ex-L&NWR John Ramsbottom 'Special Tank' No. 27351 fresh from Crewe works paintshop. This gives an excellent impression of the enormously long chimney this class of 278 locomotives received!

27351 was built at Crewe in June 1876 as L&NWR No. 195 and was withdrawn in Apr. 1940. Clearly, it once had a smokebox numberplate attached, removed on re-numbering from 7351 (inherited by a 'JInty') to 27351.
