NBR 203 1890s St. Margaret's MPD

NBR 203 1890s St. Margaret's MPD

North British Railway Wheatley 'E' class 0-6-0 No. 203. Built at Cowlairs circa 1867 and rebuilt there by Holmes in 1887, withdrawal date unknown.

Thomas Wheatley was CME of the NBR for eight years until resigning in 1875. This is one of 62 of his compact 0-6-0s built from 1860-67. The fine roundhouse and huge water tower at St. Margaret's MPD in Edinburgh are the backdrop to this lovely 1890s image. Restored from an original period 8"x10" print.
