45688 1953-04-07 Harrow & Wealdstone
5XP No 45688 Polyphemus passes Harrow & Wealdstone with the up 'Midlander' for Euston on 7th April 1953.
This is virtually at the point where some months earlier 46242 heading an overnight Perth -Euston sleeper ploughed into the rear of a standing local train resulting in the dreadful Harrow disaster that is still the 2nd worst in terms of loss of life on railways in Britain.
