Ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45654 'Hood'. Built at Crewe in February 1935 as LMS No. 5654 and withdrawn in June 1966.

The changes to the old order are happening all around at New Street Station in August 1964 whilst 'Hood' is waiting for the 'all clear'. Now it has occurred to me, that whilst 'Nelson' and 'Drake' may have been familiar surnames, many others, ('Hood' included) might have benefitted from the addition of forenames to confirm they were actually named after people!
