45653 1959-05 Hunsbury Hill Tunnel

45653 1959-05 Hunsbury Hill Tunnel

Ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45653 'Barham'. Built at Crewe in Jan. 1935 as LMS No. 5653 and withdrawn in Apr. 1965. The 1,152 yard long Hunsbury Hill Tunnel is on the Northampton Loop Line of the WCML. A decidedly grubby 'Barham' is heading an up express away from Northampton in May 1959. Where I ask, are the palisade fences to keep those five happy youngsters from the jaws of death? Scandalous!
