Perhaps we all began our fascination with railways in this way? A huge machine and its train thundering past our 'up close' viewpoint (Far Cotton, Northampton, June 1957 in this case). The excitement continued with a locomotive that bore some unfathomable name. What or where or who was 'Quebec'? It fostered a true education as we discovered the answers. Or at least, some of them!
Ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45555 'Quebec'. Built at Crewe in June 1934 as LMS No. 5555 and withdrawn in Aug. 1963.
