45667 1957 Scarborough Station

45667 1957 Scarborough Station

Ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45667 'Jellicoe'. Built at Crewe in Nov. 1935 as LMS No. 5667 and withdrawn in Jan.1965. The Yorkshire seaside resort of Scarborough saw a huge number of excursion trains in the summer season with 'foreign' visitors adding excitement for enthusiasts. In 1957 we see 'Jellicoe' having brought in a Taylor Bros. works outing from Nottingham. The Sandiacre-based company were a major supplier of permanent way to BR. No doubt 'mates rates' were applied!
p.s. Bring us a stick of rock back...
