Ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45594 'Bhopal'. Built by NBL of Glasgow in Jan. 1935 as LMS No. 5594 and withdrawn in Dec. 1962. This is the classic viewpoint at York to see southbound expresses leaving the city. This 1961 photograph captures a superb departure of 'Bhopal' with the distinctive Holgate Road girder bridge crossing the railway. The York avoiding lines can be seen veering off to the left just beyond the bridge.
