Ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45562 'Alberta'. Built by NBL of Glasgow in August 1934 as LMS No. 5562 and withdrawn in November 1967. In this wonderful May 1961 view, 45562 is heading an M915 coded special for Leeds & District Amalgamated Engineering Union members at Littlefield Lane Crossing gates in Grimsby. Duffle coats, short trousers, a school cap, short-sleeved jumper, spotter's notebook and your head through the gates for a better view are the order of the day. All encapsulate the universal male fascination with railways. What a delightful hobby it was!
