For the period, the three locomotives in this fine view of the ex-Midlnd Rly. Lancaster Green Ayre MPD and Station are all in commendable external condition. Centre stage is 'Jubilee' 45694 'Bellerophon' and to its right is the now preserved Ivatt '2MT' 2-6-0 46441. Finally, on the left facing away from the station is Ivatt 2-6-2 Tank 41216. The Lancaster–Morecambe line was electrified in 1908 and was the first high-voltage overhead 6,600 volts AC electrification in the United Kingdom. Green Ayre closed to passengers in Jan. 1966 and freight in Mar.1976. This view - Saturday 23rd May 1964.
