Opened in 1860 by the North Eastern Railway as an overflow for York station (beyond Holgate Bridge in the distance) on race days, these platforms are believed to have closed in 1939, but who continued to look after the flower beds here? The platforms were also known as Holgate Excursion Platforms, Here Barfleur from Bristol Barrow Road starts its long journey home.
