I thought WR locos handled these trains as opposed to LMR ones working down to Barry Docks but as repoted in the August 1962 issue of Modern Railway 45577 (89A Shrewsbury) worked a banana train out of Barry Docks on 27 June 1962. This was after the rebuilding of Shrewsbury�s Castle Foregate Bridge from March 11 to April 9 1962 when through trains between LM and South Wales were worked by LM engines to eliminate engine changing at Shrewsbury, but it seems the precedent had been set.
