45735 1963-07-30 Rugby

No.45735 Comet on 30th July 1963 leaving Rugby with a fitted freight consisting of container wagons, almost certainly one of the daily meat trains to London. One of the two Jubilees rebuilt with a Royal Scot tapered boiler in 1942, it retains the Stanier cab which made it almost indistinguishable from the rebuilt Patriots which received these cabs when they were fitted with taper boilers. The overhead masts are in place but the wires are not yet up - the work was not completed until November 1963. No.45735 was coming near to the end of its stay at Willesden, going to Annesley in October where it spent its final year in service.
