LMS Jubilee 4-6-0 No 45561 Saskatchewan with the 11.36am Nottingham Midland-St.Pancras leaving Stanton tunnel on 20 September 1959. At 1332 yards Stanton tunnel is the longest of the four tunnels on the Nottingham to Melton Mowbray Railway. The others are Grimston tunnel (1305 yards), Saxelby tunnel (543 yards) and Asfordby tunnel (419 yards). Construction of the line started in 1874, Stanton tunnel was completed in 1878 (headstone says 1879) and the line was opened in 1879.
