Allocated to 20A , Leeds Holbeck , 45675 , " Hardy " has arrived at Bristol Temple Meads with the Southbound " Devonian " , which ran in both directions betwen Bradford and Kingswear.
This is as far as a Midland Region locomotive can work , and " Hardy " is backing out en route to Bristol Barrow Road Midland Region shed .
The " Devonian " will now be worked forward to Kingswear , quite probably by one of Newton Abbot's " Castles " , whch were often rostered to this duty in both directions between Bristol and Kingswear.
We enthusuasts down in the far West had to make a trip up to Bristol in order to catch sight of a Midland Region express passenger locomotive , and a trip up to Swindon from Plymouth invariably gave us a welcome hour or so at Temple Meads twice in the day !
