This is Manchester London Road Station that is on the cusp of undergoing the rebuilding at the end of the 1950s that saw it become Manchester Picadilly. A London to Manchester express is in the capable hand of a smart ex-LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' 4-6-0 No. 45644 'Howe' that was built at Crewe in Dec. 1944 and would be withdrawn in Nov. 1963.
