45690 1956-01 Bristol
Captured on film on " home territory " here at Bristol Temple Meads 45690 " Leander " , allocated to Bristol's Midland Region Motive Power Depot at Barrow Road , and in typical external condition , has just come on as a fresh engine on the northbound " Devonian " which would in all probability have been worked up from Kingswear by one of Newton Abbot's " Castles " , or possibly by their 70022 " Tornado " , a favourite for that duty at this period in time .
Destined eventually for Bradford, this working of the " Devonian " will probably take the " Jubilee " to Leeds .
45690 , built at Crewe in March of 1936 , was later destined to be an early " Jubilee " withdrawal , ending her days still at Barrow Road in 1964 and despatched to Dai Woodhams ' yards at Barry before being privately purchased from that establishment in May of 1972 and subsequent restoration at Derby.
Initially homed at Dinting in her preserved form in the Summer of 1973 and working Railtours from the Autumn of that same year 45690 then found herself on the Severn Valley Railway , then Tyseley , and later at Carnforth .
