Colin Ryder adds the details "45571 'South Africa' a long-term member of Blackpool Central (24E) MPD is rounding the bends between Grayrigg and Low Gill Junction with the 1S54 Blackpool-Perth where it will resume a northerly course towards Tebay and then Shap Bank.
The train has just passed under the occupational bridge for Cowperthwaite Farm which can be seen over the top of the left embankment. Just visible round the corner in front of the loco is a stone bridge that climbed up from the village of Beck Foot, ran past the farm to join the A685 Kendal to Appleby road near the village of Grayrigg.
Nowadays the M6 motorway passes between the stone farmhouse and the railway embankment on the left; both the above bridges have been demolished and replaced by a lofty three-span concrete bridge which links to a new road running along the embankment on the right. "
