Ex-LMS Stanier 'Princess Royal' class 4-6-2 No. 46204 'Princess Louise'. Built at Crewe in July 1935 as LMS No. 6204 and withdrawn in October 1961.

On a slightly hazy summer's day probably in 1958 near Weaver Junction in Cheshire, 'Princess Louise' glides by. Princess Louise (1848-1939) was the 6th child and 4th daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. In many ways ahead of her time, she was a strong proponent of the arts, higher education and a supporter of the feminist cause.
The tender carries the first type of BR insignia so this would be before the loco was repainted in red livery in September 1958.
