No. 46200 The Princess Royal leaves an impressive smoke trail behind at Brinklow in 1950. It had been renumbered in August 1948 at the end of a Heavy Scheduled overhaul during which a domed boiler was fitted. Apart from the new cabside numerals and smokebox door numberplate, the engine and tender are still in 1946 lined black LMS livery that was already well worn, but would have to last until 1952.
