Magnificent in LMS style maroon. Camden’s 46207 Princess Arthur of Connaught was photographed on 28th August 1961 at Polmadie. Its immaculate appearance belies the fact that it had been in store at Willesden from March to July 1961 and would return there in September to be stored again before withdrawal at the end of November. The engine was in crimson lake with LMS style lining that it had worn since May 1958, had been fitted with AWS in March 1959, and received overhead warning flashes in 1960. It had carried a domed, combustion chamber boiler since December 1955 and had a roller bearing pony truck. Cylinder cocks were steam operated and short drain pipes were fitted.
