What a splendid sight at Bristol's Bath Road "Open Day " in October , 1967 with " Princess Elizabeth " surely the " Star Attraction " , following restoration at the Dowty Rotol factory at Ashchurch , just beyond Gloucester .
Saved for preservation following withdrawal in October of 1962 the engine worked back under her own " Light Steam " from here to Ashchuch the following day , taking the Gloucester avoiding line at Tuffley Junction at about four in the afternoon , this trip down to Bristol being the engine's first run under her own steam on the main line since preservation , she having worked down to Bristol late on the nineteenth in company with 7808 , " Cookham Manor " , also based at Ashchurch .
Happily still with us today , " Princess Elizabeth " has now made the very first run of any " Princess Royal " into Cornwall , working down to Par on the 17th . September , 2016 and returning on the 20th. Septmber , 2016.
