No.46204 Princess Louise in 1950 on a Down express alongside the Oxford Canal at Brinklow. It had been renumbered in April 1948 with 10 inch LMS 1946 style numerals and a scroll and serif smokebox plate but these had both been changed to the BR standard pattern by the time this photograph was taken. Incredibly it kept its pre-war LMS crimson lake paintwork which according to some records was not replaced until 1952 although it was fitted with a domed boiler in September 1950.
Ian Townend however says "I believe 46204 lost its red livery in 1950 when it acquired the combustion chamber domed boiler from the Turbomotive. Photograph in my collection strongly suggests the loco is in plain black livery with Lion on wheel emblem on the tender and gill sans smokebox and cabside numbers. When this boiler was changed in 1952 46204 then acquired the green livery "
