No.46205 Princess Victoria was instantly recognisable after 1938 by its altered valve gear with large ‘tripod’ motion brackets. These are apparent in this picture taken at Brinklow in 1950. The engine had been renumbered in May 1948 and repainted the following November in the first iteration of BR lined black with Gill Sans smokebox door number plate, 8in cream cabside numerals and 10in tender BRITISH RAILWAYS lettering.
