46209 Princess Beatrice passing through the remains of the LNWR station as electrification work is well under way. The fireman has moved across the footplate to join the driver in posing for the cameras. The picture was taken after the ‘Princess’ was fitted with AWS in May 1959, probably during 1960 while it was allocated to Crewe North. It was equipped with a Smith-Stone speed recorder in December 1957.
