The group of spotters at the platform end seem to have been unperturbed as the safety valves of 46203 Princess Margaret Rose blew off at Euston in August 1956. The now preserved engine, which had been fitted with a domed combustion chamber boiler in October 1955, was allocated to Crewe North from May 1953 until transferred to Edge Hill in September 1958.

Peter Kerslake adds " The youngsters at a wet Euston don't appear too bothered by the weather and a couple have even managed to get their bicycles on to the platform.
