69321 1956-05-13 Newark MPD
Ex-Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Parker 'N5/2' class 0-6-2 Tank No. 69321. Built at Gorton in May 1899 as MS&LR No. 897 and withdrawn in October 1956.
The Great Central Railway inherited 129 of the MS&LR 'N5s'. The prototype, MS&LR No. 7 was the first locomotive in Britain to have a Belpaire design firebox, though Beyer Peacock & Co had incorporated them for a few years previously, but they had all been built for export. Newark MPD in May 1956 sees 69321 fitted with the unlovely LNER's replacement 'flowerpot' chimney.
