183 1924 Lincoln

An elderly onlooker is watching the departure of ex-Great Central Railway John Robinson '8' (LNER 'B5') class 4-6-0 No. 183 seen at Lincoln in 1924. Although in early LNER livery it still carries its brass GCR cabside number plate. One of fourteen of these very elegant 'Fish Engines', No. 183 was a product of Beyer Peacock's Manchester works in Feb. 1904 and was withdrawn in June 1950 still wearing her later LNER number of 1686.
