60083 1951-06-15 Darlington Green Lane

LNER class A3 4-6-2 No 60083 Sir Hugo heads north out of Darlington at Green Lane (No 107) bridge, (houses are on Saltersgate Road), recorded as with a down stock train on June 15, 1951.

However there is no such thing as a "stock train" and this evening train is carrying Class C lights which were used for many kinds of fully fitted non-passenger trains, routinely for Parcels trains, this one made up entirely of Big Four and pre-Grouping vans, nearly all of which is identifiable. ECS could be conveyed, witness what looks like a Gresley 61'6" end-vestibule TK which could have been added for many reasons, quite a common practice.
