D6115 D6128 1960s Cowlairs station
The Engine Sidings are at the east side of Cowlairs station, viewed from the station platform. The rectangular base in front of the telephone post was for a former water column - the colour light with a directional arrow is C25.Banking engines were held here at the top of Cowlairs Bank before returning for duties from Queen Street. Following on from the N15's then the V1's the class 21's were used for banking purposes for a while, and that explains the addition of the loco lamp to front of each. Under close inspection you can see that D6115 is fitted with the special slip couplings and cable apparatus used on this banking duty. Thanks to Vic Smith and Mike Yeoman for identifying the location and providing a signalling plan confirming ground signal C25 was situated here.
