With a sparrow sitting on its tender top for company, Ex-GER Class E4 No 62793 awaits the inevitable in Stratford scrapyard on 3rd July 1955. This was one of the E4s which worked on the Stainmore line from Darlington to Penrith in the 1930s and was fitted with cab windows for enhanced protection to the crews.
