The negative sleeve states this photograph to have been taken at Purbeck Rd (St Neots) on 30th December 1958. The train is the 11.20 Cambridge-Colchester service. This was the last surviving E4 2-4-0 at the time and seems to be being driven quite hard. It still had another year’s service, not being withdrawn until December 1959.
