61753 1959-07-05 Colwick

LNER K2 2-6-0 No. 61753 was one of those well travelled engines, often a sign of being a "bad 'un", having 21 sheds in the first 20 years of life before working off Great Eastern area sheds during World War 2. After that No.61753 settled down at Colwick from October 1952 before its withdrawal two months after this photo taken on 5th July 1959. The 2-6-0 was sold for scrap to Motherwell Machinery & Scrap at Wishaw but whether it was dealt with locally or had the indignity of being dragged up there we shall probably never know.
