GNR K2 2-6-0 No 61738 on the curve from Basford North in c1958.
This is the 6-15pm Burton-York beer train and the date is June 11th 1957. Shortly after this photo was taken, the K2 stalled on the tight, steeply graded spur up to Bulwell Common. This train always changed engines at Bulwell Common and on this day York B16/1 61430 was waiting. When the train stalled, the B16/1 backed down on the front and the two locomotives took the train the remaining half a mile to Bulwell Common where the K2 came off and the B16 continued on its way to York. There's a photo by P J Lynch in the October 1957 Trains Illustrated showing the train easing into the yard at Bulwell Common with the B16 on the front.
