61783 1949 Eastfield

A visitor from Fort William, K2 No 61783 ‘Loch Sheil’ in grubby ex-LNER apple green livery at Glasgow Eastfield in 1949. Later, in the mid 1950s, a transfer to Aberdeen would move this engine away from the West Highland lines followed by withdrawal in June 1959. When the engine received its name on transfer to Scotland by the LNER, a spelling error was made which was never corrected. The name should have been spelt ‘Loch Shiel’.
