Ex-North Eastern Railway W.Worsdell 'J25' class 0-6-0 No. 65645. Built at Gateshead in May 1900 as NER No. 1961 and withdrawn in April 1962.

On a lovely 1948 evening near Shipton on the famed 'racetrack' north of York, a modest 'up' mixed freight including an old NER tender (probably used for water tratment sludge), potters slowly southbound behind 65645. An unidentified 'A1' or 'A2' is fast approaching with an express and receding into the distance beyond the bridge, a northbound train can just be discerned.
