5700 1950-08-19 York MPD

Ex-North Eastern Railway Worsdell 'P1' (LNER 'J25') class 0-6-0 No. 5700. Built at Gateshead in June 1900 as NER No. 2076 and withdrawn in Aug. 1959 as BR No. 65700. There's lots of activity and human interest in this fine view of an everyday event at York MPD in August 1950. 5700 is moving loco coal wagons to and from the coaling tower, an incessant job that had been amongst its duties for half a century by this time!
