3258 1900s Where
A magnificently turned-out Dean 'Duke' class 4-4-0 No. 3258 'King Arthur' is being watered at an unknown station. Straight nameplates attached to the boiler were a short-lived experiment replaced in 1905 by conventional brass-edged curved splasher nameplates. I wonder how many of the lovely early GWR worksplates survive as seen here on the double frames? Top feed and Belpaire boilers were fitted to this class later and 3258 was withdrawn in 1935.
