2001 1930s Potter's Bar
The LNER Gresley 'P2' class of 2-8-2s were exceptionally striking in appearance and May 1934 Doncaster built No. 2001 'Cock O' The North' was no exception. It is but a matter of time before 'Prince of Wales' the new build member of this class emerges from Darlington to enthrall enthusiasts with what we are able to recreate in this decade. In a cautious note, the originals were absolutely at the cutting edge of 1930s technology and were not without considerable reliability and teething problems. This was to result in their rebuilding to simpler form for practical reasons in September 1944. Potter's Bar in Hertfordshire is the location for this undated 1930s photograph.
