Visits to Horwich Works usually found locomotives in 'ex-works' condition waiting to be returned to their home depots. This ex-LMS Fowler '7F' 49668 was allocated to the Midland Railway's Belle Vue MPD (26F) in Manchester. This 1870-built shed was an early closure in April 1956. This photo is dated September 1955.
