9793 1957c Trawsfynydd
Peter Kerslake says "Sadly the Cambrian was too far away for me to make any personal visits but research tells me that Trawsfynydd was on the line between Bala northwards to Blaenau Festinog , and in this view Croes Newydd's 9793 takes water at the little station there .
Trawsfynydd 's claim to fame came about in July of 1959 when construction of a nuclear power station began , work being completed in March of 1965 .
Increased freight traffic on the line resulted fom the early days of construction , and freight traffic continued on the line until late January of 1961 , although through passenger services had ended in early January of 1960 .
The power station was closed down in 1991 , but services and a section of line between Blaenau Festinog and here remained until 1997 , although that section of track was left intact after that date.
Situated in wild and remote mountain landscape the splendid nine arch viaduct at Cym Prysor , south of here and between here and Bala , remains intact today , as do small sctions of the northernmost line" .
