6967 1951 Dainton

GWR Modified Hall class 4-6-0 No 6967 Willesley Hall climbs Dainton with a Sunday slow train to Plymouth in 1951.

Peter Kerslake says "Climbing the lower slopes of Dainton bank at milepost 216-1/4 6967 has just five coaches and a couple of vans and appears to be making light work of its task. The vans could either be "Enparts", used for bringing engine parts from Swindon Works to Laira , or more likely empty fish vans which I recall left a lingering smell after they had passed us by on our Sunday afternoon walks along the Plym estuary in those happy days!"
