Up express passing Banbury
View northward, towards Birmingham on the ex-GW London etc. - Birmingham etc. main line, also towards Woodford Halse and the North on the ex-GC line. 'Modified Hall' No. 7900 'St Peter's Hall' (built 4/49, withdrawn 12/64) was not stopping and has no Reporting Number, but I recorded the train as a "Relief express to Bournemouth": if so, it probably came from the Birmingham direction and would work as far as Basingstoke.
Note the cattle vans in the siding by the cattle dock. They are mostly of pre-nationalisation design which was unusual at this late date, including a couple of examples of the last diagram built by the LMS plus a Southern one. The roof felt is partially missing on a BR built one.
