6928 1965 Worcester Works
This is probably the early summer of 1965.
Peter Kerslake adds "Even as late as 1965 , the last year for Western Region steam , the Works at Worcester were still turning out overhauled locomotives destined to work their remaining months in and around the West Midlands area of the Western Region , especially running between the East Midlands and Wales through Gloucester on iron ore and steel freight rosters , with Severn Tunnel Junction Depot still remaining open to steam .
6928 "Underley Hall" , a Cardiff Canton engine in happier times, has had her coupling and connecting rods taken down, possibly for remetalling within the Works, whilst her crosshead looks to have been paid some attention and looks very clean.
Devoid of her nameplates, as was so often the case at this period in time, 6928 still retains a cabside number plate"
