5993 70018 1963-04-01 Shrewsbury

A most interesting shot here at Shrewsbury showing that distinctive watering facility , with its pipework extending out from the station canopy so that engines on the through road could take water as well as those on the platform road.
Formerly allocated to 81A ., Old Oak Common and then for a brief period at Cardiff Canton , 70018 , " Flying Dutchman " appears in this view now to have been transferred to the London Midland Region as the Diesels made so much express passenger steam obsolete on the Western Region .
5993 , " Kirby Hall " is on the platform road , a Reading engine in past years.
