Photographed from the lengthy down side platform here at Newton Abbot , 5981 " Frensham Hall " is on the Depot's outside yard , just where a bomb in the last war fell and caused much devastation .
This engine is shown in my 1956 shedbook as being allocated to Shrewsbury and if that is still the case in this view she has probably worked through from there, quite a run for a " Hall " , although Shrewsbury's " Counties " and " Castles " were regulars down to here at Newton Abbot on the " North to West " workings , such rosters being shared between crews and engines from both Shrewsbury and Newton Abbot on a "one day out and the next day back " basis.
