5935 1950s Knowle & Dorridge

5935 1950s Knowle & Dorridge

Swindon, no doubt reluctantly, painted many of its named engines in lined black until British Railways “relented” and replaced the LNWR style livery with Great Western style lined green. No.5935 Norton Hall in the early 1950s is crossing one of the matching pair of girder bridges at Knowle & Dorridge on a southbound parcels consisting of one van and three bogie vehicles. The new goods yard built in the 1930s can just be seen in the left background.
