6934 1953 Newport

6934 1953 Newport

Although a "Hall" might be rostered upon the Swansea to Carmarthen, or Carmarthen to Pembrke Dock legs of the "Pembroke Coast Express" something must have gone wrong this day at Swansea's Landore Depot with the rostered engine, doubtless one of their sixteen "Castles", the mainstay of their Top Link workings, as a work stained 6934 "Beachamwell Hall", but complete with Reporting Number and Headboard is on the Paddington bound working.
The "Pembroke Coast Epress", introduced in 1953 had the distinction of having to reverse twice on both the "down" and "up" workings, namely at Swansea and Carmarthen, and, therefore, became three separate sections with the section between Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock becoming virtually an "all stations" service, so different from the fast and main train running between Paddington and Swansea.
