6904 1950s Swindon Works
Tyseley's 6904 " Charfield Hall " has been reunited with her Hawksworth tender here outside the Weighing Shop at Swindon Works and has been given a full repaint following overhaul in " A " Shop .
The " Hall " in the background looks to have a fresh coat of paint to her front end only , indicating that her boiler has not been removed whilst going through Works, just receiving what I think they used to call a " Heel and Toe " overhaul.
This area within the Works is where locomotives were held pending admission into " A " Shop and also where , following overhaul , the weights on the wheels were set and the engines and tenders were matched up in readiness for a short spell of " Running In " on local duties prior to being sent back to their home sheds.
